I am botanist with main interest in addressing the research questions: what grows where, how, why and when. Currently, I am leading BIOTA (BIOdiversity & TAxonomy) Lab at University of Kashmir. Over the last two decades, the broad research focus of our group has remained in understanding the patterns of plant diversity and distribution and their underlying ecological processes, with implications in informing conservation, restoration and sustainable strategies. Using quantitative data-synthesis approach, we have recently developed few biodiversity databases (Trees of India; Trees of Global Treelines) and more are in the pipeline. Our group is also maintaining a long-term GLORIA monitoring site in Kashmir Himalaya since last one decade.
